Macho Grande is for sale

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111400230359...30359&viewitem

I have always like the Roadkill 'burb...wish a had room for it.

Also heard a rumor Hot Rod mag was going to stop print in about 6 months...hope this isn't true.

Re: Macho Grande is for sale

I'd love to have the burb. That would suck to see hot rod quit printing, but here lately their content has been just ok. Hate that for them. I also hate that they don't update Hot Rod Unlimited. I liked it better than the new show Hot Rod Garage.

Re: Macho Grande is for sale

It's only been listed a very short time and the price is already getting high enough that I feel like the novelty of being the Roadkill celebrity truck is talking more than the actual vehicle. Not that it's a heap or anything, but a 3/4 ton big block Suburban with that kind of wear and tear is only worth so much.

That is an awesome burb.

I'll be sad to see them stop print, but that's just a fact of life these days. Not much of a future in printed media

Re: Macho Grande is for sale

I saw on Facebook that they're also selling an early 70s Dodge out of the Roadkill fleet.

It does seems like something is afoot over there. Source Interlink did shut down a pile of magazines a month or two ago. It would sure be a shame if Hot Rod got the axe next. I've liked Freiburger's style since the early 90s when he was doing cool dirt bag junkyard stuff for the magazine articles. Sadly that stuff is long gone.

Kevin, been a fan of Davids stuff for a while too...I find it odd he's liquidating as well, he's always had a ton of cars/trucks in his stable. Guess we'll wait and see.

Another fan of David's here, was anyone else following him at 4-Wheel and Offroad? We still get Car Craft and Hot Rod - would hate to lose either.

Re: Macho Grande is for sale

I'm a huge fan of Macho Grande. Anyone care to speculate on the exact tire size? The ad says they are 33" Mickey Thompson ATZ, and I guess I'd be surprised to learn that a 285/75/R16 33x11.50 tire would fit on a 2WD Burb with 300K+ miles on it. I could imagine a 10.50 or narrower tire maybe fitting, but MT doesn't sell a 255/85 tire in the ATZ. Very curious.

It's pre-smog out here so it has a bit of a premium.

Re: Macho Grande is for sale

I suspect that the poop is hitting the fan at Hot Rod. Freiburger is selling another one.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-F-250-C...US_Cars_Trucks

I've read about everything he has ever written in magazines, and about this exact truck a few times, and this is the one truck he wouldn't sell if he could help it.

And just to stir up the haters, that Ford is loads cooler than the Suburban.

he said he's just selling stuff he has to pay storage on and he needs some funds for a new racecar.

We shall see. Source Interlink shut down 12 of their car magazines last month. I hope I'm just paranoid.
