Is my frame modified?

Let me start by saying that the reason you see grinding, cutting, and random welds is because I have been cutting out lots of stuff the previous owner welded on for a towing contraption. And the remaining crossmember you see going from frame rail to rail is about all thats left from him that I still need to cut out.

Now the question I have is whether the frame was shortened? Once I cut out that crossmember will my rear bumper brackets have the correct holes to bolt to or will I have to weld c-channel and lengthen the frame back some and drill holes in what I welded?

Yeah you're definitely right. I did a lot of grinding and cutting to get to what you see. But I can't tell if the back of the frame has been shortened? And to that end are the holes for bumper brackets still there?

Re: Is my frame modified?

I think that some of the original bumper bracket holes are still there, but I would still replace that cut out notch on the lower corner of the frame.

Re: Is my frame modified?

Looks like once I remove that crossmember in the back then all my holes are there?

Captianfab - the notch is not in the actual frame rail - it is something else that was welded on that I have to cut off. I will cut all the junk off and repost pictures for further review.

Re: Is my frame modified?

Hmmm......looks to me like the bed rear cross sill is sitting directly above those notches. Maybe it's just the pics?

I see what you are saying. The rear cross sill in the pictures another member provided is about an inch or so from the end of the frame. Is that the way mine should be?

Re: Is my frame modified?

The mounts on the rear cross sill bolt directly to the top of the frame. The actual sill itself is a little ways from the end of the frame.

I would replace the missing part of the frame at the lower end of the frame

In order to get the long bumper brackets in then I need to remove that side to side crossmember and extend the frame rail back out to just where the notches end? As I do exactly what you said, repair the notches, and the frame length will be correct again? I just want my stock LMC primer rear bumper to bolt on lol

I'd use VIN # to be absolutely sure how your truck originally came.
