Dark charcoal velour seat cover

Hi, has anybody had any luck finding the correct replacement seat cover for their pickup online? Mine is a 86 GMC Sierra Classic, color code in glove box for the interior is 18D Charcoal Custom. I ordered one from Classic Industries and the one they sent is nowhere close, color is way to light like a light gray and the fabric texture is wrong too. Many another vendor has the correct one, if anybody knows please point me in the right direction. Thanks Dan

Re: Dark charcoal velour seat cover

Good luck! My friend has an 87 V30 Charcoal on Charcoal. We ordered seat covers from LMC, Classic Industries and Brothers.....ALL claiming charcoal. They all came in medium gray(suburban/blazer color) with the wrong texture/patterns.

He is now going to order the black/silver one from Classic Industries to see if it matches.

If this doesn't come close, he is going to get straight velour from the local upholstery shop and have it stiched like the silverado/sierra classic pattern....without the texture/pattern on the seating surface.

It is so frustrating!!

If you are going to make your own and you want the correct material, you need to call SMS auto fabrics in Canby, Oregon. They have absolutely every kind of original auto upholstery and I am not exaggerating.

Re: Dark charcoal velour seat cover

I filled out a sample request at SMS last night, I figured some vendor would carry the correct seat cover. Seems like a pretty common color and pattern. Thanks!

I got the samples in, the vinyl is dead on perfect match and the fabric is very close. Very expensive though, vinyl $45 yard and fabric $85 yard. Still looking at this point.

Try Tim at Truckseats (gold member on this forum). We just got a 1975 crew cab dually with a mint back seat but needed to redo front. I sent him a picture of the back seat and in a couple of days he had the correct material.
Hope that helps Paul

Bringing these old seat cover posts back to the top. What were your findings. Did you end up find what you was looking for. I am looking for the charcoal cover as well. I need the carpet too.

Re: Dark charcoal velour seat cover

I ordered the samples from SMS but they did seem to be an exact match. I am not quite ready for the cover yet but would be nice to find it when I am ready. I will keep looking.

Dan had Connor Sweet make his seat cover and I had one of Dan's friends in Memphis make mine.
