My new to me 72 K5 CST

Here it is folks, the product of 8 years of looking high and low and on n off.
72 CST
Power Brakes, Power Steering, A/C, Tach, Hand throttle, posi, 3.73 gears, buckets, and its a BLAZER. Woo I am excited! Plans? Yes 80s Burb, Blazer, Sierra, Silverado and pull the 350/700/208 combo out and throw er in this as well as rewire the whole truck. Also want to go ahead n paint it red, and throw some Mickey Thompson Classic Locks all the way around as well as find some nice offroad bumpers with lights and a CB

Congrats great start. Black with a saddle interior from GM - that's cool.

Looks like a great start. I'd go back to stock as well. Black on black with saddle interior. Looks like not a lot if rust issues either nap done took good care of that one.

Re: My new to me 72 K5 CST

Well I moved into my new house last week, got the Blazer in the garage and started tearing it apart. Took the butchered wiring harness out and will order a new one from GMCPauls, and I will replace the radiator support and inner fenders. As far as the cowl? The usual news I am afraid.

Think I am going with Soft 8s for now

Pile of parts

No bueno. My rust was underneath in the rockers and floorboards. Wasn't any in the cowl like that luckily.

Good deal! I got stainless steel cowl screens from LMC painted them black and installed them into my Blazer and K20 to keep the leaves and large debris out of the cowl and vents.

Re: My new to me 72 K5 CST

Ain't updated in a while cause all the wind got knocked outta my sails around the 4th of June when I was supposed to take this on the Hot Rod Power Tour. Ended up taking the 75 Vette but still kinda sucks when you bust your butt for 3 months straight almost for it to go a full 180 on you. Rearend blew that Wednesday nite and I have been searching ever since. She runs and sounds great but thats it. Rearend is out of her at the moment.

This is all prior to that date...
Droppin the 350 in

PO told me the engine was fairly new, I think he may be right. Turns out its a Targetmaster 4 bolt main 300 horse 350

Dressed her up a bit, and added a GM NOS aluminum intake topped off with the Rochestor for now

Electric fans on the new 4 core

Purple Hornies are hooked to those headers

Restored the hub selectors (Blue Krylon from Home Depot and some elbow grease)

Old vs New Gate

Core Support on

Front fenders on, GETTING CLOSER!!!

Grille on it!

Lights are working, woo

Interior going in. Thats a 16'' Lokar and sitting in the seat my hand rests comfortably on the shifter. It is hooked to a 700R4

Then June 4th we were finally ready for a test drive. Torqued all the bolts one last time, put er in drive... then the rear blew

Now its dead with its butt in the air

So I know that is A LOT to look at but once I source a rear for this truck I will be going full speed ahead. New floors front and rear, rocker boxes, firewall, rear tubs and rear bedsides and a coat of paint. A lot to do but I got nothing but time. This truck won't be going on the 'Tour next year as my Dads 69 stepper is in paint at the moment.

Love the baby monitor on the rear bumper. I restored my 69 Camaro while my daughter was asleep and had the monitor by my side.
