Camaro core support

I picked up a frame from a member here who had done a '74 camaro subframe. The bottom of the frame horns are even, but it's higher on the drivers side where the power steering unit is to accommodate the top bolt. When I tried to put my front clip on (after trimming too much of the inner fenders) the drivers side fender is touching the frame up front at the core support and not allowing the fender to sweep back to the firewall at the bottom.

Any suggestions?

I removed the inner fender bolt and rivet that holds the bracket to the core support that originally bolted the front to the frame.

It's a 1957 chevy truck.

I cannot help except the suggest you go over to the HAMB forum. Look at this article and compare you your clip install to see if the basic height is right.

Then search "camaro front clip" and 10 pages of items show up. Look at the ones related to TF trucks to see how they solved the problem.

My guess is that the clip may not be level with the frame (pitched up) or installed to high.

Thanks for the reply. I've read that thread and he does talk about trimming the inner fenders which I did do. The clip is level as far as I can tell. I stopped by a local guys place who measured it out and said it looked good. Hopefully I'm missing something simple.

Are your front wheels centered in the wheel well where you're trying to install the core support? My core support cleared the gear box by a small amount and I wonder if the proper amount was added to the wheelbase dimension to center the wheel. Most add about 1 1/2 inches which provides clearance from the box on one side and idler arm on the other.

Dead center and the fender sits well on the passenger side.

Looks like the radiator core support is in the v8 position? If so move it foreward to six cylinder position. Are the cab mounts and shims in place?

I had no idea you could move it for v6 position. That should correct it I think. I'll get to go out there Wednesday and give an update.
