frame braces?

It seems one of my trucks has these and another (85 and 86) does not , anyone know why?

I think my '75 has them.. not sure. I can't specifically say for sure but something tells me I've seen these on my truck. It's also a C20 or 3/4 Ton (Whatever you prefer)

is that right above the cross member?

maybe only big block trucks had them. there is a member here who worked on an assembly line when these trucks were being new, he would likely know.

There wasn't a change in the part release between 1985 and 1986, so it must be based on option content like Bucannon suggests.

Or - someone had the truck apart and forget to put that piece back in.
