Vent Window Weatherstrip
I'm looking to replace the weatherstrip on the vent windows. Does anyone have experience with ones that fit really good? I bought factory ones years ago they fit great. Now they're worn out again and need replacing. Would like them to fit just like factory. Any thoughts?
Thanks |

Re: Vent Window Weatherstrip
Gramps, can you give us an estimate on the cost of the rebuild? Is it less than buying the vent window assembly from LMC? They charge $650-700 per side, depending on the tint.

Re: Vent Window Weatherstrip
It was just about half of what one of those cost new. Contact Derek at Precision Parts.

Re: Vent Window Weatherstrip
Thanks, Gramps, I will call Derek if I decide to go that route. I'm missing the vent glass on my driver's side. There's just a piece of plastic cut in that spot right now.
I'm trying to figure out if the different years/weatherstrip also meant different shaped vent glass. Once I know that, I can get a new piece of glass from a junkyard and think about rebuilding my whole vent assembly. Liftlawssuck, I would definitely check out Precision Parts for your vent window needs. They're a member of this board and provide a lot of helpful information on it. They also have some great how to videos for our trucks. Just look up the user name Precision Replacement Parts on YouTube. And finally, their products are sold in kits by a board vendor - Captkaos. That's where I'll order when it comes time to do it.

Re: Vent Window Weatherstrip
Just got off the phone with Precision Replacment Parts. Really nice people. Had a nice chat with someone who I can't remember his name (god it stinks to get old). Anyways here's the scoop. It costs $177.48 ea. if yours are rebuildable. If not it costs $237.48 for new rebuilt ones. They will sandblast all metal and paint in trim black color. They also put on a lockable latch. Which I asked if they had a problem with reusing the old nonlocking latch and he said wasn't a problem. So it looks like I'll be sending mine to them once I get them out. Great contact. Thanks!

Re: Vent Window Weatherstrip
Those are great prices for rebuilt vent window assemblies. I know I can do it myself following tutorials on here, but that will save a lot of headaches. Now to just find a vent glass...

Re: Vent Window Weatherstrip
Yea I didn't think they were bad prices either considering the time it takes to do all that. I have done it before but with those prices it not worth my time.

Re: Vent Window Weatherstrip
I just did mine. Tore them apart and used precision seals. It cost me a total of about $60. I painted the window frames as well with black and clear at my buddies paint shop. My truck is a hobby and I like to do all of the work myself if I can, but I will agree it was a pain. I think I would do it again to save $250...

Re: Vent Window Weatherstrip
Sweet. I might end up going that route since mine leak something fierce.
