taking off from a stop issue
When i take off from a stop, no faster than average motorist. I notice a slop in the drivetrain. I not only can feel it but hear a noise that i have a hard time describing in text.
My first thought is that is is the transmission cross member. I checked the mounts to the frame and it feels solid. I think I would have checked the bushing too but i cant remember. But were going to assume that i did. this leaves the rear end, I have 3" lift blocks, stock springs. or the motor mounts, which I believe would be obvious under a rolling takeoff with hard acceleration what if my cab mount bushings were shot, would that be what im feeling? what could my issue be?

Re: taking off from a stop issue
Have you checked your U-joints or pinion bearing?

Re: taking off from a stop issue
With 3 inch blocks check the u-bolts and the pinion angle.
Here's a link on finding and curing vibrations. http://www2.dana.com/pdf/J3311-1-DSSP.pdf |

Re: taking off from a stop issue
I replaced the pinion bearing when right after i put this rear in the truck. didnt know it was bad until the first test drive... redneck on craigslist lied to me
I suspect the U bolts since it was an Autozone sourced block kit, and the u bolts dont look too beefy. In fact I have not adjusted them since installation, which I understand you are supposed to check them after a while. currently I am out of state so keep the ideas coming in case it is something else

Re: taking off from a stop issue
Check your slip yoke. They often cause slop from takeoff

Re: taking off from a stop issue
Try twisting it and pushing it up and Down WHILE NOT UNDER LOAD, it's often pretty hard to tell though without dropping the shaft and inspecting it on a bench. It doesn't take much to make a ruckus. The slip yoke is male and female splines that mate and slide back and forth on each other. They can get hammered out over the years. You could try greasing it but if its to the point of making noise, your probably looking at replacing it or turning the stereo up.

Re: taking off from a stop issue
Check the spider gears and center pin in the diff. When worn and almost ready to die these can get very sloppy
