'77 yellow side moulding advise
I have had some side moulding around for 10 err maybe 15 years ago for a '77 Blazer. Front and rear fender pieces are new. The factory packages fell apart long ago and they are a little dirty from laying around. The other pieces are not great, a little dull and I don't know where they fit. I was going to list it but have no idea what to ask for it. Can you still get this stuff? Clue me in guys!
Thanks, Scott

Golden 77 trim is very uncommon, wait for Ken to show up, and he'll let ya know all about it before you list it. You can get a fair bit of change for that stuff, esspecially in that kind of shape

These guys are correct. The gold trim was 77 only and it is not being reproduced with the gold insert. What is being reproduced has the black insert and what I would consider daily driver quality at best.
It's kind of strange as to the demand though. Even though it is somewhat rare, many owners prefer to replace it with trim that has the black insert since finding a full set of gold is not easy. Mixing and matching old and new stands out like a sore thumb, so that's not an option. From the angle of the pics it's hard to tell exactly what pieces you have. From the back of the door forward it will fit a truck, Blazer, or Suburban. From the back of the door back everything is specific to each body style (ie. short or long p/u, Blazer or Burb). I "think" the exception to that would be p/u tailgate and Blazer tailgate may be the same. You can verify all this by looking at your LMC catalog. Your best bet is to get all the info you can and put it on Ebay, or you can sell it to me. I would be willing to buy it as a package....

Re: '77 yellow side moulding advise
So has there been any updates to this subject? Anyone out there making reproduction yellow moulding? If not, has anyone heard of anyone painting over the black repro stuff?

Re: '77 yellow side moulding advise
No one is reproducing yellow that I'm aware of......the problem with finding NOS pieces on Ebay is that the colors are not always the same. Different colors can depend on just the painting alone from GM or different areas of lighting where the pieces have sat over time. The best thing to do is to get a complete set of NOS moldings for your truck, then repaint the stripe in them, which is what I plan on doing. I have a complete set of yellow NOS that will be going on my truck after paint but I am still going to paint them....just due to the fact that the GM paint quality is not the best.

Re: '77 yellow side moulding advise
New Caterpillar yellow is the closest match that I have been able to find. I too have ran into NOS 77 pieces being different colors of yellow
