Porterbuilt needs list

Hey all, just took ownership of an original 70 chevy swb and will be placing a large parts order in the next week. I started this thread to make sure I cross all I's and dot the T's as far as what I'll need to succeed.

I'm going porterbuilt extreme front and rear kits with the power rack and pinion steering, likely wilwood 4 wheel discs, to start.

Does anyone have a list of what they purchased on their own builds? I know the PB kits come with most everything, but also saw they don't include spindles etc... so basically besides the all inclusive PB kit, what extra stuff will I need?

Beautiful truck, love the medium olive. The one thing I know you'll need is money! There stuff is spendy that's why all I have is one of there tshirts. There stuff is top notch and IMO sets the standard as far as quality suspension

Re: Porterbuilt needs list

Whoops, I meant cross all my T's and dot my I's!

Thanks for the kind words, I love the color too!

I have a fairly large budget as I just sold my previous toy the 65 Lincoln Continental Convertible. I know that Porterbuilt is top of the line and that's what drew me to them. It will end up being a new truck that happens to look old

Re: Porterbuilt needs list

That is such a clean, original truck...I'd almost say leave it alone.

That said, I purchased the full Porterbuilt Mild-Coilover from Travis at Az Pro Performance.

He is a vendor for everything you're looking at, unless you're going full-show, I would recommend doing a disc/drum setup and using the rear disc money elsewhere, trust me...you'll find something else to spend it on, haha.

Re: Porterbuilt needs list

You will also need firewall mounted hood hinges running the extreme kit.. If you need any pricing on wilwood or porterbuilt products I'm a authorized dealer for both..

Re: Porterbuilt needs list

The guys at Porterbuilt will take great care of you, but you may want to work with one of our board vendors to purchase your dropmember kit. Basically, it can save you a few bucks because they can pass on some of the savings they gain through volume purchasing. I purchased my kit through member n2billet, but there are many great vendors here on this site, including the guy who posted above. To add to Kyle's suggestion you may also want to think about after market inner fenders as the stock inners won't work . Best of luck with your build you sure are starting with a good looking truck!

Re: Porterbuilt needs list

Nice truck!

We can work with you to get the parts you need, to get to the end goal you want. You are doing it right, by getting a list together and doing all the homework first. PB is the way to go on these trucks. You may also want to look at the Baer brakes as well, but would be happy to go over everything with you and put together some options to look at.

We also order extreme kits for stock (front and rear), so more than likely, we can cut down on the PB build time for you.

- Travis

Thanks for the good words Goater!

Thanks man, I'm excited. I get fidgety without a toy so I'm really looking forward to getting going on this one!

I'm in the Serra Mesa area, near Qualcomm Stadium. We'll have to meet up and cruise sometime!

Re: Porterbuilt needs list

Alright, Travis from ProPerformance was super helpful and walked me through all that I will need. I am going with the Porterbuilt extreme front with Power R&P steering, all the bells and whistles, rear extreme trailing arm kit with all addons as well. Added the inner frame support by Porterbuilt. Baer 14" discs on all 4 corners, wilwood master cylinder, all Accuair elevel management and so on...

Ready to make "Old Olive" a bad mofo!

Don't forget about a set of slosh tubs. Designed, made and sold by 67cheby another one of our members! They finish out the engine compartment very nicely.
