Help finding thread for side mirror hole locations

I once saw a thread where someone added some actual dimensions to where the assembly manual shows the reference locations for installing the side mirrors on a 69 C10. Can anyone help me to locate that pic/thread. I've done my searching (A LOT) and cannot find this thread. I have the assembly manual, but I need to know where to start. Also, according to my assembly manual, it looks like the top two holes are parallel to the door body line. However, seems like on doors that I have seen, this isn't the case (factory holes) can anyone comment on that?

Re: Help finding thread for side mirror hole locations

I would not recommend just drilling holes. I put backing plates on all of mine so my holes have a good solid 1/4" of material that I tapped (1/4-20 in my case). But mine are Sr mirrors that probably take a lot more force.

I'd still put a plate on the inside if you can though, not just washers. But it'd have to be formed to the door maybe in that location.

Thanks, I do have the plate's for the inside. So I am probably good as far as one hole relative to another, but I nee the stating points.

Thanks LocDoc. That does help some. That isn't the thread that I was thinking of, but it gets me relatively close.

The doors that I'm using had something like the camper mirrors that mounted on the longer brackets that were spread all over the door. I'm trying to go back to the style in the thread that you posted.

His hole dimensions match an example door I have.

Sounds like you are going off the assembly manual's pages that show the mirror located fore and aft from station 15 and vertically from waterline 35.

Thanks, I think this will help. Yes, I have the Assembly Manual which references those lines you mention. Although their location is hard to really come by.
