Re: Is it Worth the Effort

Once you sell it.. .its gone. With those two boys, you sure you don't want to hold on for a year or two just to be sure? For the most part I agree with what everyone here has said. It doesn't sound like you are really into it. However, If you can afford to do it over time, or possibly in a few years when the boys get a little older, it might be a good bonding opportunity, and since it wouldn't be a all stock rebuild, why not do something really custom... how cool would it be to give it to your youngest for one of his future birthdays? that's how you got it after all..... Just think about it hard before you let it go!

Re: Is it Worth the Effort

I'd say at present it isn't worth the emotional attachment so selling it will be a waste.

I'd go to the local to the truck craigslist.org and search for what similar field trucks are priced at and figure 25-50% off that after negotiation. I doubt you'll be thrilled.

Here's an example search:

chevy truck -1994 -1995 -1996 -1997 -1998 -1999 -2000 -2001 -2002 -2007 -2008 -2010 -2011 -2012 -2013

You'll want to add -1973 -1974 ... -1994, etc. Tune as needed as you go.

May I ask what area the truck is in? Some areas are dryer than others and it doesn't look that bad. I'm guessing west of FW...

Re: Is it Worth the Effort

I bought my 71 BB Super when I was around 19-20 years old. I sold it two years later only to buy it back July 2014 from the same person I sold it to back then. I'm 46yo now. Looks like you lost interest in the truck back when you let it sit. It will never have the comforts that your King Ranch has BUT it will be more valuable than the *King* if you restore it. I say sell it to someone who cares more about it.

Pull it home if possible, take your time and clean it from the inside out; everywhere. After looking at it for a while decide if you wont suffer sellers regret because once its gone its gone and lets face it your not going to get much for it as is.

That was probably unclear.
I meant its worth more to the OP than what it might sell for...

A lawyer once told me that to find out what something is worth, set it on the curb with a for sale sign. The best offer is what the item is worth.

I say take it home and clean it up real good. By the time you are finished, you will know what to do.

Sell it to someone on the board who will actually care about it

Re: Is it Worth the Effort

sounds like you have sentimental value invested in this already, people dont do it because its easy people do it because they love the vehicle and appreciate the memories dont live with pictures of it in your drive way. live with it on the road. IMO
