Cool Hi. New Here.

Hello. I just traded my 92 Harley Fatboy for a 1967 C10 Short Bed Stepside with the original 283 and Powerglide. Owner said it has 64k original miles but who can really tell? Lol.

Its not mint by any means. Interior is really clean. Seat has been reupholstered, new carpet etc... Truck has been repainted. Has some rust coming through in a few spots. Outer rockers are getting soft. Still has the 4 drum brake setup which I plan on swapping out with a drop spindle/ disc kit.

Power steering was added to it.

I foot pad part of the gas pedal is missing. Has new tires, new dual exhaust, new 2 barrel carb.

Its missing the rear plate bracket, backup lamps and plate light, all of which I ordered from LMC and ebay. Just waiting for them to arrive.

Two things that I notice right off the bat is 1. The brake pedal is so dang high it drives me nuts. Is there a solution to this?? 2. There is no room for me behind the steering wheel. Im a big guy and it sucks. Lol. I ordered a Grant Mahogany 377 14" steering wheel and adapter, so I know that will help some. And I read on here while waiting for membership activation that I can slide the column forward which I plan on doing.

It runs great but last night I went to gas station and went to leave and it wouldn't stay idling. Kept stalling. I had to pull the choke out about an 1/8" to keep it running. Maybe the idle is to low? I have no idea.

Oh, and the bed just has plywood strips in it instead of the nice hardwood that should be in it. Ill replace that sooner than later.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

Pic time!

Re: Hi. New Here.

Nice truck. Of course I'm a little partial to '67 step sides .

Do a search as there's a few threads on moving the pedals and steering column forward. Both relatively simple. I'm 6'5" and planning on doing both at some point in time.

Thank you. I saw the steering column threads but couldn't find the brake pedal threads for the life of me.

CST? Ive heard of it but not sure what it means. Lol. I didn't know that. Thanks. The steering wheel has some cracks in it. I was planning on saving everything that I take off. What is that cap and wheel worth?

And thank you very much!

Well I'm "thinking" you got a really nice truck there and I "suggest" you enjoy the heck out of it for a long time to come.

...and yes I'm one of those who thinks the more pictures the better.

Re: Hi. New Here.

The bed looks to be from a 68 or later. I know the fleetsides in 67 didn't have reflectors on the sides. I would think that applies to stepsides as well.

That said, I really dig your truck. Very nice color too. Enjoy it.

Re: Hi. New Here.

Nice truck... The one thing I have learned is do what YOU want with/to the truck that fits YOUR likes... Everyone will tell you what is cool but what is really cool is what you like...

As far as the Rear Fenders they are late 67 or later... Even on the stepsides there were no side markers on the small window 67... I believe that late 67 when the big window was offered the rear markers were installed... I may be mistaken on that part...... and if my memory serves me correctly on the 68 the rears were actually just a reflector...

Re: Hi. New Here.

Looks good especially for a truck here in New England.
If you get that replacement steering wheel and want to sell the big one please message me. I've been looking for an original that's not mint but affordable for a few years.
Have fun.
Cheers,
Dom

Re: Hi. New Here.

Welcome to the forum. If you upgrade to power brakes, the brake pedal will be easy. Just take the return spring off, and adjust the rod to the booster down to the height you require. I did this with no problems. The steering column is a little harder, but not much. What I did was heat the plastic rivets on the lowest shaft of the column near the rag joint.(you will see them from the side of the flat section) Loosen the clamps on the dash and just push. It will go all the way to the cluster. I myself took my shaft out, and refurbed it, so it was easier to shorten it. You can cut, I think it was an inch and a half, off each piece of the lower shaft to retain the compression aspect during a collision. The rivets are plastic and melt quickly, then drive the shafts together. Once that is done, they should slide right apart again, then make the cuts if you want. That brake pedal was really high on mine too. Now it's perfect.
Good luck.

Re: Hi. New Here.

Welcome to the Forum and thankZ for the pictures. There is a head on photo that showa you are missing 2 eyebrow moldings they attach to the fenders in line with the hood moulding. The 67's had no marker lite's front or rear, in 68 they were reflectors. There is a lot of good info here and if you use the search tab you will quickly learn most everything you ever wanted to know.

Re: Hi. New Here.

Thanks guys. Im in Alton. Thanks for all the info. Im not sure I want to sell any parts yet but I will keep you in mind.

The carb is new. And he gave me the receipt for it. Think it just needs to be adjusted.

I did notice those trim pieces on the from missing. I think I saw repop ones on LMC for like $15.00. I really don't see how they mount? And I guess Id have to paint them white? I really don't like the white.

Re: Hi. New Here.

The trim that goes around the front fenders and hood lip are 68 only and are to be anodized aluminium...
