My 56 3100 3.5 year build lots of pictures.

Picture of the 56 when bought in CA, it was mounted on a 1983 ¾ ton chassis with Power steering and breaks. The motor was a 350 with a 350 auto.

Re: My 56 3100 3.5 year build lots of pictures.

After getting the truck in Thailand and giving it a close inspection it was obvious it was full of problems, like rust covered in bondo, nothing worked A/C and the steering column ignition switch.
All the glass was scratched the seats were sun faded the motor was tired with no oil pressure. So I bought a $5,000 truck for $20,000.
Now that it was here I decided to make it the way I wanted it to be.

First I removed the steering column and wood from the dash and this is what I found.

So seeing this I then decided to make it right hand drive seeing that a new dash was necessary. So I had a talented metal guy fabricate a new dash, he did this with no tools and an old piece of rail road track as a mandrel.

He also made a glove box from scratch. I had ordered an Ididit chrome tilt column and he made a sheet metal piece to hold an A/C vent and the other side to house the A/C switches.

Now the fire wall must have had 50 assorted holes so they were welded up and the fire wall was covered with a flat sheet of metal.

I had ordered a rebuilt 350 with a TPI system and a 700R4 old Trans for the truck.

The left hand steering change over require a jeep power steering box from a used parts supplier and mounted and the original pitman arm used plus the idler arm was moved to the left side. (I would later extend them both ¾ inches to give better steering radios)

The truck came with a vintage air unit and the only part I kept was this part. When doing the interior it would be covered.

Now onto the body work, first the hood and front fenders did not fit (big gaps) so my trusty metal guy extended the hood to close the gaps on both sides and while at it closed the radio antenna hole.

Now on to the body rust removal. First I had ordered new stamped metal eye brow pieces from LMC and they were really heavy metal.

Both rear cab sections needed to be replaced and the metal guy handmade the outer and inner sections with little to no tools.

With the 700R4 rebuilt including a trans-go shift kit the motor and trans were put in place.
Time to fit the LPG injection so it with not be visible when installed.
Had to rill and install the LPG nozzles and with the system being computer controlled the system is quite big.

The original gas tank was in great shape as someone had replaced it before.

I installed the LPG tank under the bed.

As I mentioned before all the glass needed to be replaced and a local shop made a metal pattern of the front and rear windows then made new safety glass for them. The side window glass is tempered glass with the vent windows safety glass.
