Difference: Blazer/Jimmy vs Short Box Frame
Is there are difference between a 2wd Short Box Frame and 2wd Blazer frame.
I know the fuel tank is in a different spot, but what about bolt holes, cross members. Specifically, could you take a Blazer with a rotted frame and swap the body to a short box frame without cutting, welding, fabricating, etc? |

SWB truck is 9" longer than a Blazer frame and Blazer has different (or additional) body mounts

Re: Difference: Blazer/Jimmy vs Short Box Frame
Wheelbase difference is 11". 104" for the Blazer, 115" for the truck. I was planning to shorten a truck frame and swap the body mount brackets to make a 2wd Blazer frame before I found my 2wd Blazer. There is another member on here that did it, and he told me that all it took was careful measurements to get the body mounts in the right place.

Re: Difference: Blazer/Jimmy vs Short Box Frame
I kinda have a similar question. I have a 72 Blazer with a really rusty body and a 71 SWB step-side in decent condition. Can I drive the Blazer until it falls apart then swap the 4x4 drive-train over to the SWB?

That being said, I don't really feel like cutting up a perfectly good shortbox frame and adding on to a perfectly good blazer frame. |

Re: Difference: Blazer/Jimmy vs Short Box Frame
One more question regarding frames.
I have a 72 4wd blazer, but someone has hacked up the crossmember under the engine to make room for a 454. Are the 67-72 4wd truck crossmembers under the engine the same one as in a Blazer? Ultimately, I would like to pull the 454 and use it for another project and replace it with a 350 TBI like my 72 GMC Longbox. |

Re: Difference: Blazer/Jimmy vs Short Box Frame
Bump for asking if 4wd truck and 4wd blazers use the same engine cradle/cross member?
