Motor and Trans swap??

Hello my friends, I have a 63 c10 with an inline 6 motor, and a Muncie 318 Trans. I'm starting a business restoring old Chevys and I want to restore this truck and sell it for as much as I can. My question is, will I get more value keeping my current motor and Trans in this truck? Or would it be better to put a 350 v8 with a 3-speed and overdrive?

I reeeeally appreciate the help

Re: Motor and Trans swap??

You would probably find a bigger market to sell for with the 350 & OD, but would you recoup the difference for the swap....it would be hard to say. MY $.02, would be to keep it stock for a resto flip.

Re: Motor and Trans swap??

Depends on what you are going for in this flip. If you are wanting to showcase restoration the a 100% stock truck would be best. If you want to showcase hot rod skills the a LS swap would be what I would choose. What you are able to sell it for, the highest price may not be the way that makes you the most proffit.

Re: Motor and Trans swap??

Big blocks, small blocks, LS, inline 6, deisel... different motors can be easily obtained any ol' time, and everybody has their own vision for a replacement. I pesonally like 283's others call those boat anchors. You only get the original once. I say leave it if it's good. A stock truck always has its own appeal. The next guy who buys it is likely to have ideas of his own.

I would think that if someone was starting this type of business would have some insight into the business before one ever got started at it!!
