rocker replacement
are the rockers very hard to replace?....how does one get the old ones out and how are the new ones held in place?...are they welded or what?

old ones are cut out new ones are welded in and from what im told as long as ya can weld and have reasonable patience its easy enough

Service parts in Denison sells a spot weld cutter, its a little pricey but works good. I am in the process of doing mine now if you would like to see let me know I am no expert by all means but am learning as I go

I did mine and as long as you have that spot welding tool remover and a welder or panel bond its a breeze.

i have replaced several panels i cut the old ones out with a grinder and chisel and hammer they are most offen all ready about to fall off anyway i have always rivetted the new ones on
they are as strong as a weld just make sure every thing is lined up before you start pop rivitting it takes a good day to replace both sides after you get them rivitted in grind them down a little and cover with body filler sand smooth and primer

see,i dont have a welder or access to one....thats why i was wondering if there were other ways to put them on....and according to yall,there is

Depends on the tools you have at hand. I had no access to a welder or other tools so I cut my off with tin snips- yes tin snips- and rivited on the new one until I can get it down to the body shop and weld it up.

billsbowtie....thats looks pretty good....what do you do about where the rivts are?....im only putting together a daily driver,but want it to look halfway decent and hold up for a while

i have fixed about 25 of these trucks after you get all the rivitts in just grind them down a little not to much cover with body filler sand it takes a littel time just keep at it till you get done you will be suprized how strong it will be when you get done i wish my camera was working so i could send you more pics. thanks bill

the Eastwood Company has a spot weld cutter that makes it simple...........

If you have a spot weld cutter and a wire welder its fairly easy to do.Just make sure you fit the rocker panel to the door bottom and hold the rocker in place with screws don't weld until its all lined up perfect.it took me a afternoon per side .And use a spot weld cutter so you don't cause more damage.
