Crew Cab Chevy/GMC Question (Local Rookie)
Hey guys I am just a 22 yr. old rookie and finally saved up enough change throughout college to buy myself an old square body truck. I have been searching to the end of the truck world to find a decent to good crew cab. As my internet search continues I found this custom truck on Craigslist for sale and the link is this; ( http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/cto/4576332131.html ) The guy said it was a custom 91 suburban chassis/front clips with a 77’ short bed & crew cab on top making a three/fourth ton truck... but here is where I am confused. The VIN in the cab and it is titled as a k10? From my research and trolling and trolling of these forums I thought the only Crew Cabs built in 1977 were K20's & k30's?
Any help or information on the crew cab beut’s would help. |

Re: Crew Cab Chevy/GMC Question (Local Rookie)
I had the guy send me the VIN number today and I am even more confused.
VIN: CKR147Z199728 C-Chevy K-4x4 R-V8 400-4v 175hp LF4 or Cat 3406-DT Diesel 1-1/2 ton 4-Pickup or Van w/hi-cube 7-1977 7-Fremont CA I think I may have found an answer to what it could be..... http://www.acdelco.com/pdf/appcat_bu...tification.pdf BUT... So it can't be a crew cab unless it's a k20 or k30 series pick up truck? So what the hell is it a cut up cab from a Suburban k-10? |

Re: Crew Cab Chevy/GMC Question (Local Rookie)
I think it might be a moot point, considering what the truck is now. The truck is too long to be set on the suburban chassis; either the suburban chassis was lengthened, or the crew cab frame was shortened. As far as the truck itself is concerned; after 37 years there are liable to be all sorts of modifications.

Re: Crew Cab Chevy/GMC Question (Local Rookie)
You are correct. There were no K10 Crew Cabs in 1988 (or for any squarebody C/K/R/V, for that matter).
At this point it is a "Frankenstein" truck. K

I've seen that truck up close. Not worth a drive from Ohio (guess there) for disappointment.
Keith nailed it on the frankenstein. Is a little of this and a little of that and a lot of beer during the weekends.

Thanks guys I appreciate the advice. If it aint worth it I'll def listen to you and take your word for it. It's difficult to find them old crew cabs and just get a little to excited every time I see one. Just have to be patient and keep searching.
