New LMC catalog
Got my new LMC catalog yesterday. They are carrying Autometer gauges now. $169.95 for a 5" Auto GAUGE tach with shift light. Makes me wonder if they sell any of that stuff.

I had my fill of LMC long ago. I won't order anything they have unless I absolutely can't find it somewhere else.

Here are some reasons i dislike LMC they try to sell edelbrock carbs for like 1/3 over what you can get them in jegs for .. that tach you can get for 109 in jegs lol and headers for double the price there just stickin it too uniformed people..
And i bet anything they sell that stuff all day people that dont know no better get the catolog and think this will work right on my 67-72 or 73-87 or whatever year the catolog is for .. I guess it just pays to shop around . |

Well, dislike is a harsh word.
I don't really dislike them, but more of don't need them I guess. They have a big selection of stuff, but most of it is Taiwan made stuff. I try not to use Taiwan made stuff on my truck, if I can help it. Then the replacement parts they do sell that are original GM made, I can buy cheaper at my local dealer. Been there, done that. The biggest thing I don't like is there is no tech you can talk with and ask questions. You order something from the catalog and hope like hell it's the right part when you get it. Been there, done that. I say make friends with your local parts guys at the Chevy dealer. Then, always check with them first before ever buying from anywhere on the net, LMC or otherwise. Sometimes, you will be surprised. A word of advise. If you are after a replacement part. Get a price at the dealer and then compare it to LMC. If the part is way cheaper from LMC, it's made in Taiwan for sure. Now I say this because 95% of the parts for my truck, I can still buy from the dealer. In your case, 78 parts are probably not available from the dealer, so you have no other choice but to buy aftermarket. |

73-c10 - I have seen those overpriced carbs and general easy to find stuff in the lmc cataog. I didnt think anyone actually bought
those items. swervin- I have to agree the quality of the low priced stuff is very poor. I have boughten cheap stuff before and regretted it. In the end ending up buying the good stuff . wasting more money and kickin myself in the behind. I still like having options. when I did a major make over( paint, fender, hood, bumpers, bumper brackets, bed wood, stainless bed strips,) to my 78 in 1990 there were very little options. Having a stepside box made it even harder. I spent months searching for parts. Back then nobody was stocking or reproducing 73 to 87 parts. Or if they were it was harder to find. Having a computer certianly gives you alot more options. I agree with you 100% that when you talk to them on the phone they have no knowledge of there products. One thing I like about there catalog is the pictures are good reference. I have went to the dealership before and showed them picture of a part I wanted . most recently when I needed a front sway bar hanger it helped alot. dont buy there headlight bezels cheap cheap cheap |

The LMC catalog is great for parts illustrations. As for their prices on performance parts, they tend to be at full retail price while most performance parts catalogs like Summit, Jegs, etc. discount the prices and are more competitive.
I have purchased items from them, mostly hard to find items, such as the clear lens for the instrument panel I see they are selling chrome bumpers with built-in fog lamp enclosures.

I boughtthe seal kit fromn them and am not happy with the way the window channel fit and the weather striping that goes on the door panel as well as the outside of the door. It sticks up about 1/8 and not flat down on the door metal like its suppose to.

I've purchased mostly "little" things from LMC. Such as the repro GM key blanks, a lense for my dome light, I bought the lower door panel carpet kits...
So far I have been happy with the items I've purchased. But I do agree that there is a lot of products I can find cheaper elsewhere.
