1985 C30 Cummins 12V

I figured I should start a build thread on this to get some more understanding on what this project will entail and to have a running history of the progress on the build.

I started this project with a 1985 Chevy Camper Special C30 w/ 454, T400 trans and a dana rear end. This was a police seizure so the inside has every nut and bolt taken out to search everything lol.

Plan: Cummins 12V (94-98) with HD auto trans flat bed and hook up for car trailer (bumper pull) and gooseneck.

Budget for this build is 8-10K and ETC is Dec 2014 (plus or minus a couple years lol).

Re: 1985 C30 Cummins 12V

So just an update.... I have been straightening the shop up so I have room to work on this and other projects. I did finally get the cab and front clip I am going to use unloaded and on a make shift rolling cart so I can work on it in between other projects. If I can find the p/s bracket I need to make this set up (454) work I might leave it in there while I drive it for a little bit while I get the 12v ready.

Re: 1985 C30 Cummins 12V

Just an update... I have not worked on the truck alot...took the old bed off and I am prepping the flatbed to get some paint in the hard to reach areas when it is mounted. I will mock it up this weekend too to see how it fits/looks.

Thumbs up Re: 1985 C30 Cummins 12V

Subbed. Interested to see what transmission set up you're going with. I plan on going with the 47rh when I get my swap going later this year.
