peep mirrors

Hey I have a different question. I have the chrome window shades on my doors and I was wondering about using peep morrors with them. It just seems like if I use the curvrd arm peeps, that they would be in the way. I welded the stock mirror holes shut when I did the body work for a smooth clean look so they are no longer an option. I have heard that you cant see out of the peeps anyway but I dont know Ive never used them. Let me know what I should do for mirrors, and any pics of your trucks with the peeps and side window visors would be cool. The window shades gotta stay because I think they help make the truck. I would think that you may not be able to mount the mirrors on the door. The vent shades will be in the way! You might be able to find a way to mount them, if you are set on them.
I fabricated my own brackets and just purchased the round mirrors, looks killer. As far as viewing, you just have to get used to them, (I drove motorcycles for years without and with very little mirrors) and you will learn to love them or hate them.
If your are interested Classic Chevy Trucks of America has some with a built in turn signal.

Yeah, I too ride bikes and am accustomed to smaller mirrors. I run the curved peeps on my 63. (No vent shades). If positioned in the correct place, they are quite nice to have on the truck. Mine are not in the correct places, so the passenger mirror is strictly for looks (as i can't see the mirror at all - or anything in it). I just spin my head and check the right lane before changing lanes... No issues yet (knock on wood).

I ran them on my 63 for a couple years and never really liked them. You are just not going to see much in them, nothing usefull in the right side. I ride a bike too so I'm not real comfortable unless I can see what is around me on the road. I think they look cool, but they just didn't cut it for me especially with a small back window.

It may seem tacky....but I have thought about using stick on mirrios on the lower corner of my vent windows on the inside and just opening up the vent when I drive. Won't work in the rain, but it might work for nice days

I ran the same peep mirror on almost every one of my cars from 1970 until about 1990. I actually loved the view out of the mirror back then, because it was so close to my face I got a pretty good picture. Recently I tried installing it on my 1960 GMC, and I couldn't see doodoo. It was at night, and the mirror I have is an original Yankee with black beveled glass. It's nice for reducing glare, but may not be as user friendly as I remember it being, or maybe because my eyes aren't as young as they once were.

i ran peeps on my 65 with window shades this is the only picture i could find....the peep mirror was kinda hard to look into with the shade but it was the straighter armed mirror if you used the one with the 45' degree bend i think it wold work perfect im planning on running the shades and a peep on the 66:

I've run peep mirrors on mine I did have to tweek the the mounts a little so I could see out the passenger side one. Have them mounted down on the door window frame? pic might make more sense

i used these same peeps on my prev. 65 (r.i.p.) and i could see okay, but i tend to look over my shoulder usually tho. they're being re-used on this now.

Edit: never used with shades tho :/

I like how your peeps are mounted on your truck. What are the specs on this type? I mean what do I order, so they will adjust like that?

I drilled a hole and mounted it to the doors . I've had peeps for years and like mark said the older I get the harder it is to see out of them. But the look of them out way the lack of visibility .. I think

They were just a set of curved 3" peep mirrors , got them online thru ebay here in Oz. Don,t think there was a brand name.
They clamp to the door frame with 2 grub screws at the back.

I like the peeps, and like everyone else my pass side was just for show. Then I realized the size was the same as a stick on convex blind spot truck mirror. I stuck that right over the right peep, and it works great now.

Yep, stick a 3" spot mirror to the passenger side and you can actually use it then. You can see plenty well enough for changing lanes and backing into parking spaces etc. Works great.

I like those turn signal built in mirrors too. That is definatly a thought.I might just do that.

Just a new replacement mirror head mounted to the upper arm of the smaller westcoast style mirrors that were on the truck when I got it.

You should totally add a spot light to the lower mount...that'd look pretty badass I'd think.

I actually have a spotlight for my truck but it mounts on the A pillar under the side of the windshield and I'm having a hard time bringing myself to drilling holes there

haha ya i know what you mean, not sure i could bring myself to do it either. honestly i think spotlights look better on '50s cars/trucks anyway
