Is this a good price?

So I found a original bed from a 77 almost completely rust free with the exception of 2 spots that could easily be fixed. They want $300 for it. Should I run with it?

300 don't sound bad to me but its a junkyard try talking them down if you can.

Is that at Cox in Elm City? Price sounds reasonable. I would offer $250. Most salvage yards will haggle.

Don't want to give away location just yet! lol! I'd hate to go back in there and it be gone before I get a shot. I did talk them down from $500. I'm just curious what others have paid if they have bought one in this fashion.

I understand. My first truck was a '77 that same color combo. I'm a big fan of the yellow stripe trim.

Bob, I went there but they can't by law because there is no title.. I'm working on a loophole with him as he's parting out the hole truck on a list and said I could come and get it with a roll back!

Pretty fair price. 250 would be my top though

Re: Is this a good price?

Rust free beds out here are $225-$250 with no tailgate in the junkyards. They may have some dents but I have seen some almost perfect for that price. Good whole non-running trucks go for about $650-$1250. Running trucks are about $1800-$2500. I realize that your neck of the woods is different, but I would still check very closely for rust underneath - especially inside the frame rails and corners.

Re: Is this a good price?

They don't come that cheap up here. I paid $300 for a nice tailgate (with trim) and I had to look around for a long time.

I think it's a smokin deal. Go get it before someone else does.

I see that it still has its original early style rally center caps.
