Re: where to buy good glass

You should be able to go to any glass shop and get a windshield or back glass. They may have to order it but it's available. I replaced my windshield a while back and called around looking for the best price. Nobody batted an eye when I told them the year, make and model.

I agree. But, the glass may be the easiest part. Installer (you?), condition of the WS surround, having
the correct gasket (SS trim or plain) and; if you aren't installing yourself, finding someone
that's experience in our trucks.

I would go to your regional area and ask your buddies for referrals.

Re: where to buy good glass

pgwglass.com is formerly PPG bought out by a conglomerate corperation. Like many American companies have been they were purchased by companies that figures they can make more money by purchasing imported products and sell at the same price as their USA counterpart. PPG use to sell nice thick windshields that were not bubbled in the center and were my choice of windshields. However since they became PGW I won't have anything more to do with them. The glass is not only imported, but is thinner that OE spec and bubbled in the center. Crap in my opinion! Pilkington glass is the only one left. Their glass is thicker and flat across the center and made in the USA. WES

Re: where to buy good glass

Thanks everybody for the info. I emailed Pilkington tonight for a quote. I also emailed Binswanger mainly because there is one right down the street from me. Lately, convenience seems to trump all.

Re: where to buy good glass

Ask the supplier(Plinkington) who in your area orders the most of these glasses. That should tell you who has the most experience or at least who stands behind their work and has to order extras. The last one I had done was in Houston and is still leak free.
