I don't see why a shackle mount is necessary for the rear of the 47- ? chevy cabs. Can I just build another mount similar to the front?

Re: lv2tri2
My frame from Art Morrison came with a rigid mount on the frame so wont be using the shackle mounts. If you go to the art morrison site you can see them, or I can post a picture if you would like.
I havent mounted my cab yet. |

Re: lv2tri2
49 to 53 had them 47 48 did not, The shackle mounts are necessary if you use the original frame and no boxing. The frame flexes a lot on these trucks and will start cracking the cab spot welds apart. 47 1st and 48 had this issue with the center hung mount. I have a 47 in the shop now that had the entire rear cab seam split open at the floor level..
Art Morison frame is much stiffer so you could get away with no shackles. |

Re: lv2tri2
Thanks for taking the time to add this piece of GM history. I have a Tube frame so the shackles are not going to be used.

Re: lv2tri2
That's Morison's work, very nice. I may attempt to buy that mount from him. I can't bend large square and that's what this looks like it started as.
