Re: Rusted cab
Hey 66Submarine, I picked up this beauty for a stack of comics last weekend:
You can read the trailering adventures here, and the project progress here. The '62 (cab rust issues at the beginning of this thread) is still on my radar for purchase at the end of August, but we'll see.

Re: Rusted cab
Hmmm... am I looking at this LMC catalog page correctly? Is that thar #1 really a repair patch/panel for the metal part of the cab above the windshield? If so, that would go so far in helping me get that cab back into shape.
Anyone order it before? I wonder what it looks like in real life (you know, not a small illustration).

Re: Rusted cab
(I'm referring to the '62 cab from the original post that would need the repair patch/panel.)

Re: Rusted cab
That cab is shot. DFW CL has lots of heap trucks. You just need to search and wait a bit. No doubt down south its the same.
For a crappy temp repair, I'd say grind down the edges and use duroglass or some other filler with similar traits. As far as buying patch panels, you need everything, as well as welding, cutting, grinding tools and the skill to use them. |
