Question Dash Question ?

Pulled a standard gauge dash panel (speedo, fuel, amp, oil, and temp, no tach ) from a "plain jane" run of the mill 71 2wd LWB. On the back of the panel for the lamp sockets were the usual black twist in sockets except for one that was different. It is the same style but off-white in color and has a metal electrical terminal molded to it. Never seen one before. Anyone have an idea? Looks like it would be ideal to use as a grounding point with the bulb installed and a wire terminal attached to the metal dash or cab. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

pickupman, Thanks for the reply. Guess it is something not needed on my 71 4x4 4-spd. Are they hard to come by? Like I said I've never seen one before. Also guess it would not work to use as a ground / bonding strap point. Might cause a bit of "arcin' and sparkin' " which is not a good thing.

Thanks for the offer rage but have no need for the fiber optic on my floort shift column.

The socket is not hard to come by, but the cable is hard to find a good one. Good deal from ragnrat if anyone needs one

The port will not ground anything out if you were to ground it...the cable just transmits the light from the bulb up the coilumn.
