Starter issue Maybe?

I put a new starter on the blazer from NAPA. Now when I shift from Rev to Drive or put it in neutral the starter engages. It is a auto, column shift. I can turn the key to on and shift to neutral and start the truck with out touching the key. Any Ideas? I have traced all the wires from the starter and no bare spots. Could it be something it the column? Any advise/ideas welcome. Also it did not do this with the old starter.

Yeah it would about have to be something in the column
unplug it at the bottom of the column and see if it does anything

Thanks, That worked. I only unplugged the left side. I left the other one attached. I guess I need to trace those wires and see where the problem is. I actually just replaced that switch at the base of the column a couple weeks ago

I found out a long time ago, just because it's new doesn't always mean it's good!
Somewhere in that circuit/switch you're getting a 12v jump to the starter solenoid.
