Re: why safety glasses are so important warning pics inside my upset some

69chevytrucker,

I have already prayed for you and I'll do so a few more times.

I have gotten gun cleaner in my eyes before.......I ran to the shower and got in there with all my clothes on. I was OK after a thorough rinse.

I got a piece of metal in an eye once and no idea how that happened. I had gone to a demolition derby the night before but I sat in the very back on the highest row.

I got a piece of sawdust in my eye 2 years ago. I had done a lot of woodwork on back deck and then got lazy, took my safety glasses off and just dumped the sheet over the rail. Again I got into the shower and stood for a bit but no good. It was my good eye too and since I don't have health insurance (thanks Obamacare!) I couldn't exactly afford to call an ambulance and I didn't have any friends or family to drive me to the ER. I had to drive myself. I nearly wrecked twice getting over there since my left eye isn't so great and I had no depth perception. The doc thought I have probably washed out the object under the shower but the lens was scratched, hence the bad pain. The drive home was pretty intense!

It was dark by then and the numbing solution had caused my pupils to contract severely....the drive caused me to almost vomit so I had to open all the windows as I drove. Vision was bad! I actually drove past my house without realizing it. I had to get the ER visit on payments but I pay my debts.

My worst experience was being under a 1967 Chevy 10 in a junkyard all alone after work. This was 1998 when cellphones weren't so common and I didn't have one. A big piece of rust landed right in my eye! It was as big as my pinky nail.

I stayed calm, got into the work truck, and with my handkerchief (Dad made me carry one and now I can't leave home without one) I got it out. It was a near thing.

I don't do anything without safety glasses on now.

Gosh man, I'll keep praying for you.

Re: why safety glasses are so important warning pics inside my upset some

^My two wake up calls were when I was cutting hedges with electric trimmers and a branch speared my eye scratching the lense and when I dropped a can of oven cleaner when cleaning truck parts and it sprayed my eye... Both were very uncomfortable and painful for me... i can't imagine nor do I ever want to experience a foreign object inside my eye.

It's a very nerve wracking experience.
