Stock Steel Wheels
I'm unsure how to measure stock steel wheels to know if they are a truck pattern or car pattern. I have a 71 half ton and I would like to find some standard stock wheels to go on my truck. Can someone help me with how to measure or what to look for? I have a nice set of original full hub caps ready.

I found a plastic bolt circle template at a swap meet, I'm seeing them in the auto parts stores lately too. It's just about a 6" round disc with a bunch of holes for about every bolt pattern made, they are marked for what size they are. It's really handy. Our trucks use the 5 on 5" pattern The cars were 5 on 4.75"

The way to measure 5-lug pattern is skip one and measure center to far side

Thanks for the responses. I don't have a standard steel wheel but I do have a rally wheel. Am I measuring this correctly?

That looks right.
On some wheels it's easier to measure center of stud to center of stud on adjacent holes or lugs. 5 inch pattern is 2 15/16 checking that way. |

I thought it was center to center? And its probably super hard to tell 5x5 from 5x4.75

It looks right. Most 5 lug rallys youll find will be 5 on 5. If you are looking for steel wheels dont forget to get the 4 nub ones so theyll clear your disc brakes. 3 nubs will only work on drums.
