Re: Attempt/Mistake #2
Got the roof panel that I bought off of Ebay. Here it is test fit. I has a few crinkles and dents that I do not really know how to fix. Im not sure if I will be able to shrink them down after a little hammer and dolly work or not. They are an odd sort of dent. Fits better than I expected but still not sure if it is actually an OEM one or not.

Re: Attempt/Mistake #2
That roof skin doesn't appear to fit very well, click on this link to compare fitment on Vics truck with an aftermarket roofskin he bought.
His didn't fit perfectly at first either and he had to make a couple pie slices and use a hammer and dolly, but his wasn't off nearly as bad to start as yours is. It looks like it will take quite a bit of work to make yours fit correctly. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=133 Last edited by Xeen; 10-05-2013 at 07:05 PM. |

Re: Attempt/Mistake #2
As some of you know I had a major setback as earlier in this year my daily driven truck got stolen right after I put a bunch of money into it. And I only had liability. Therefore my project fund has been mostly depleted for the meantime. I have since bought another truck and it will take some work too . The new truck I got came from Arizona so while was picking it up scored a different legitimate OEM roof skin. 75 bucks and perfect! No serious rust and only that desert surface rust.

Re: Attempt/Mistake #2
One more. No rust at most notorious spot . Peeled up different sections of drip rail seam sealer to be positive and all that's underneath is primer/factory bare metal or surface rust.

Re: Attempt/Mistake #2
Have been continually agonizing over my fan setup. Since I have another uncut factory core support laying around threw it onto frame to check and see if I should just put a mechanical fan on instead of two electrics. The problem is I only have at the very most 4 inches of clearance between water pump shaft and radiator core surface. Is there a mechanical fan that will fit in that spot?? And then I would have to build a custom shroud and I have never built one before. Love the old school "Holley Equipped" sticker.

Re: Attempt/Mistake #2
Also I am reconsidering keeping the 12 bolt in the back. This may be stupid question but can you put Dana 60 or similar back there? The rest of drivetrain can handle the Rat and slicks but I am afraid the rearend cannot.I would be buying different axles anyways. And I also have decided I am going to sell my remaining two Intros as I want Schotts instead so wheel backspace is no issue. Would like to maintain 5 on 5 bolt pattern I think though.

Re: Attempt/Mistake #2
The chevy 12-bolt is really stout man I don't think it will have any trouble holding up, I think you are worrying over nothing here.

Re: Attempt/Mistake #2
I just worry about 600+ HP in a heavy truck with (maybe) slicks occasionally. Maybe I am worrying about nothing though.

Re: Attempt/Mistake #2
The only thing you might have to worry about is the axle tubes flexing but you can weld on stiffening ribs to prevent that from happening if you are concerned about it.
