Re: Driving around all day, then it just Died Out?
I pulled everything apart to double check my connections and I've 12V to all hot wires.
All good, but it started right up and then cut out? Then I checked continuity on the grounds. The ground under the Coil at coil frame had continuity, but the one on top did not. Frame of coil is painted, so I sanded off the paint. They now have great continuity to ground. However, now it runs but not at idle and acts like it is misfiring? Rotor still points to #1 as tab lines up and you cannot put rotor on 180 out as it is tabbed. What the heck did I do? Did I ruin my Coil? Could timing be affected by a new Coil? |

Re: Driving around all day, then it just Died Out?
Double check that your wires are "snapped" into place in each slot of the rotor.
Double check that your firing order is correct: Does your battery negative cable bolt to the engine block? Some do it from battery to frame, then frame to block, but I prefer to go directly to block, then block to frame and block to cab. Do you have one of these? You can pick up a spark plug test light at any auto parts store. It's an invaluable tool to have. That, and a remote starter (two wires - one to battery, one to starter solenoid positive. With these two, you can start the truck from under the hood and see the spark in the test light. If you have spark, then you know the problem is something else. If you don't have it by tomorrow afternoon, I can give you a call and we can walk through the things I would test. Having just been down this road two weeks ago, it's still fresh in my mind! Church in the AM, lunch with family. PM me your name and number and I can give you call after that. Wade
