should there be an o-ring on this (th350 detent)

After spending 2hrs removing all the caulking the PO covered the old detent cable with, I unbox my new ATP detent cable (#Y-103) and it seems to me like there should be an o-ring between these plastic ridges. Yes? Box didn't have one... Typing and attaching a photo via phone, hope this works...

I believe mine has an o-ring. I'll go check here in a bit.

Okay so I don't have a definitive answer for you, since I'm using a 700r4 now but, I believe what you need is a flat rubber washer that goes on the flat edge where the thing bolts into the transmission. That's what I have.

I would think an o-ring would still go in those grooves, but my detent/TV cable looks different, and doesn't have a long shaft with grooves like yours does.

Apologies for the delayed, and perhaps unhelpful response .
