55.2 rear frame Gas tank

Wish suggestions for a GOOD FIT for a '55.2 3100 rear frame gas tank mount.
1 - My initial idea was to mount a tank between the rear frame rails that has a right SIDE, front gas filler that I could duct to the original Cab gas filler cap. I intended to run the gas lines either inside or outside the driver's side frame.
I have not been able to locate a tank to do this with over the past about 2 years.
2 - If it is impossible to locate a tank for this design, then my next choice is a tank also for a rear frame rail mount for a rear license plate area fill tank and probably a step bumper.
Any ideas for an old man guys? Murf

Re: 55.2 rear frame Gas tank

most vendors sell gas tanks for 55-59 trucks, you can order them left, right, back or top fill
i doubt that you could fill the tank thru a 6 ft filler neck though

ideally find a panel/burban tank to mount in the stock location, next to the drive shaft
they are rare as hens teeth and probably priced accordingly

Re: 55.2 rear frame Gas tank

Hi Ogre; My old brain has forgotten if I responded to your info e-mail. I have beat the web replacement and custom sites and catalogs to death over the past 2 years but not found a suitable Gas Tank for my rear frame relocation, especially one that is not too tall (<8" = to clear road hazards). I had forgotten all about inside the frame rails (need to re-check my exhaust routing) & need to re-measure for outside (not preferred) and for the rear locations as I have misplaced my measurements. I do not care for it being IN the cab, it interferes with my Console idea.
I have not scoured the junkyards yet. Wanted a new tank as a 1st choice.
Have to re-investigate the Cab fill idea again, not sure I can get an adequate slope that is also sheltered (like by the frame rails). Thank you, Murf
