motoheader
got 83 Chevy K10 with 32 in. tires n 4in. lift...was told anytime u use over-sized tires u need to change rear-end gear ratios I assume to a higher? ratio...how do I know what ratio gears I'm runnin now?...do u believe I need to change ratios?...mayb I already have the right ratios in both differentials...any feedback on this would b appreciated...tankz ..."motoheader"

I've always just popped the differential cover. It's stamped on the ring gear. If it's not you can always just count the teeth. You don't have to change the gears but if it's a high gear ratio it will be a dog off the line. I believe most 4x4 models came with 3.08, 3.73 or 4.11 gears stock.

32" is not an overly tall tire. How does it feel? Does it lug on take off? How tall were the stock tires?

know none of the above because bought it like it is n am workin on it...haven't even got engine runnin yet and transfer case short shaft hooked up...tryin to simply "lQQk down the road" sort of speakin less I run into any future probz...do u kno how to figure what gear ratio I mite hav?...really appreciate the come-back... kudo's:waah

I had a 86 K10 305/ 4 speed with 3.08's and I went to 32s. Never an issue.
