Ohhh, the things I could do to this beast!
Just found this listing (not mine) on Kijiji Canada, (sort of like Crag's list)
This is one beautiful wrecker! Lots of potential here! Transform it into a vintage GMC dealership wrecker perhaps? Think I have some vintage style GMC door logos kicking around that would fit perfectly Just might have to find out how much he wants for it? http://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/...ationFlag=true |

I saw that ad a while ago. He was calling it a barn find but it looks fairly recently refreshed.
Nice truck none the less. Greg.

I guess he re-posted the add yesterday then. It does look like a fresh paint job however. Clean looking rig for sure.

Re: Ohhh, the things I could do to this beast!
If it's a Canadian truck, then it would not have a V6 unfortunately. Hard to tell form the engine bay shot what it has but I assume it's a V8. I have just emailed the seller for more info on the engine/transmission etc. I'll post back if I get a reply.

Very cool, nice choice on the color, it does look like a toy for big boys, I going to need a bigger garage.

Re: Ohhh, the things I could do to this beast!
Funny, I thought the same thing T.J. Especially the second pic, does look like a die cast toy. Seller tells me it has either a 283 or 327 in it along with a hi-low 4 speed & PTO. Been garaged most of it's life appears to have all original sheet metal. Still has not given me a price on it however. Probably wants too much anyway.

Second picture may be a toy. It has a different front bumper and has spare tire in the rear. Nice truck

Re: Ohhh, the things I could do to this beast!
Not really sure why the GMC V6 was never available in Canada, too small a market perhaps? I just know the only way to get a 60-66 with the GMC V6 was to import a US built GMC truck, which I believe you could do at the time through a Canadian dealer. The Canadian trucks came with either a straight 6, in 145, 235 or 261 C.I.D or the V8 in 283, 327, 348, 409 C.I.D and a couple of GM Diesel engines most likely used in larger 60-80 series trucks according to the options info I got from GM Canada on my '62. Seller has verified this is a Canadian built truck from Ontario, originally purchased by a service station in northern Ontario.

Re: Ohhh, the things I could do to this beast!
In the top picture it has a push bumper and below it it has a stock steel molded bumper.
I have an NOS Commercial Chevrolet Grille Guard for those trucks as well as the GMC Rocket Air Horn and vacuum assisted air pump for trucks without air brakes. I also have period correct Armored Clearance Lights for it as well.

Re: Ohhh, the things I could do to this beast!
Also looks like the spare tire disappeared from some of the pics....
