Brake hardware kit?

I am having a hard time finding a rear brake hardware kit. I am running the original drum brakes on the rear of my 1951 3100. I tried Brothers, Classic Industries, Rock Auto, general Google search...nothing

I could probably reuse the original hardware but a couple of the springs are suspect and I would rather not.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Brake hardware kit?

If you have a Napa Auto Parts, they have the proper hardware kits. I think the kits fit drum brakes up to about 1987

For fun, I tried looking up his year and also my '57, online NAPA, and no luck.

Re: Brake hardware kit?

I bought one of these kits...http://www.ebay.com/itm/52-brake-spr...-/311023939437

yea, I may have been able to save a few $ buy shopping around and piecing a kit together
But for the time I would have spent shopping,,, I instead spent working on the truck,

Re: Brake hardware kit?

Scratch this comment...I don't think LMC offers what you're looking for. They've got shoes, cylinders etc. but doesn't look like they offer a hardware kit on its own.

NAPA on-line search are marginal at best. I go to the store grab the oldest counter guy, who grabs the MOOG, etc. catalog and finds the part without the computer. The "company" told them to toss the books and use the online system, he kept the books and hides them when corporate shows up...

Re: Brake hardware kit?

Napa p/n 2201 List price $7.99. This not listed for the 3100 series trucks but it works for me.
That's the benefit of having "old school" parts guys

Re: Brake hardware kit?

I'm not having much faith in my local NAPA these days. I went it with a fan belt that had a NAPA number still on it and he had a hard time looking it up because it I had no vehicle application. It was for a big box fan, Same guy could not look up a 50 amp J case fuse without a vehicle year.

yeah, when I hit the chain stores I use 71 Z-28 as starting point for the engine except 64 chevelle 327 for stuff related to short water pump, 74 truck for drive train, and 59 truck if it something stock (not much left). After they can't find it they call an old guy at another store and he tells them the stock number from memory.

I've had the same problem at my local NAPA lately when the older guy that I normally deal with isn't there. I told the new guy that I wanted an O ring for the canister for a p/s pump from a 1980 C10 Chevy truck with a 350 engine. I made the mistake of mentioning that it was in a 57 Chevy truck now and it completely blew his mind. He called it a Frankenstein and said he didn't have any way to look it up.
