Sad NOS trim story

My Dad had a '68 from new. Nothing fancy, a really bare 910 (Canadian GMC 1500). Painted grill and bumpers, no door panels, no lighter, no radio. But it did have full side moldings, pretty fancy.

They were quite beat up. This was a commercial truck that we used for the family hardware store... my 2+2 was the "family car".

So, in about 1977 my Dad bought all new trim from the GM dealer. Still in the wrappers we all know so well today. Of course it was too nice to put on the old truck, so he just held onto it. Then he died in '96 and when the garage got cleaned out it all went to the dump (I wasn't there).

So, somewhere in a Saskatchewan land fill is a full set of NOS stainless trim for a '68!

By the way, I assume these are West Coast Jr mirrors? No need to confirm unless I'm wrong.

Re: Sad NOS trim story

I always called those Jr. West Coasts and that "is" what they are. But,GM called the RV Juniors.

That's painful to hear about the trim. What a shame to load up the landfill with it! Shoulda recycled it

My wife lives in fear that, if I go first, she'll do something like that and I'll be turning over in my grave!

That's funny. When my wife left she thought I didn't make as much money as her. I liked it that way because I paid the bills and she figured that took all I had. At tax time I didn't show much after deducting business expenses. Truck expenses were always rather high. My accountant would say,"For all you spent you could be driving a new truck". Yeah well,I never was good at business anyway
