Replacing cab mount bushings 72 4x4

I am going to be replacing the cab mount bushings. From the factory was there only one large washer between the bushings and the cab? And another by the nut? Some one has added extras at some point and i'm hoping to be able to take the extra's out unless I need to shim the new bushings.

Thanks,
Ray

Re: Replacing cab mount bushings 72 4x4

The front mounts on my unmolested 72 K1500 have single washers sandwiching the upper front mounts and a single washer at the base of the lower front mounts. The rear mounts look to have a single washer atop the upper mount and a single washer at the base of the lower mount.

Thanks Pete,
I will look at mine close. Going on memory mine is the same except for the added washer on the upper rears.

BTW I'm liking your newest addition

Re: Replacing cab mount bushings 72 4x4

Thanks! It's really clean but am trying to figure out if the funky smell in the cab comes from the rubber mat or the mice that were setting up residence just before I came along. I caught sight of one jumping ship as I was secure the truck to the trailer.

Glad to post up some pics of the mounts if that would help. Good luck! When I replaced those in my old K10 I used a dremel with a cutting wheel to cut the spot welds securing the front cab bolts to the floor pan.

Hey Pete, if it isn't too much some pictures would be great.

Thanks,
Ray

You bet. Here's front with three washers total (two top one bottom) - undercoat makes it hard to see what's what:

Rear with two washers total (one upper and one on lower). I probed the base of the upper cushion and did not identify a second upper washer.

Yep,washer/bushing/frame mount/bushing/washer. That's what will be in the replacement kit as well.

Re: Replacing cab mount bushings 72 4x4

I just went out and looked at mine and the fronts are the same as Pete's truck. Ì have two washers between my cab and bushing on the rear. Hopefully with the new bushings I can remove the extra washer.
