72 K5 blazer factory speakers

I think the factory speaker was under the dash near the tranny hump or behind the pass. seat in the side panel. I would like to mount mine under the dash if I could find a factory mount. Can anybody tell me if I am correct about the location of the speaker and if so where can I find one. If anyone has pictures that would be nice!

Re: 72 K5 blazer factory speakers

Some K5s had the speaker mounted to the dash just below the AC or heater controls but other K5s (including mine) had speakers mounted just like the pickups, tucked up under the dash. Do you have speaker holes on the upper metal portion of your dash between the pad and the windshield? If not, you need the under dash speaker - a hard piece to scare up.

There are two style of mounting brackets: with or without threads IIRC - seems to relate to AC vs. non-AC K5's.

Re: 72 K5 blazer factory speakers

I think you can buy both style speakers aftermarket. Just have to figure out wich style you have.
