Are Buddy Buckets more comfortable for tall people?
I'm 6'5" and 230-240lbs. I love my truck and isn't bad to put around town but I could use some room. I currently have a standard bench seat.
My current plan is to get a 88-91 bench and have it recovered in houndstooth to look a little more original. However I stumbled across a good deal on a set of buddy buckets. I really like the concept and know they are desirable. They also look like they may give me a little more room/comfort in the cab. Is that true?

Re: Are Buddy Buckets more comfortable for tall people?
Most buckets seem to have less room but that is just not the case with my 68 GMC with the buddies it has. At the time I first got the truck it was not tilt steering and in the normal position and I was quite heavier than the 330 that I am now closer to 400 LBS. and I am 6'2". So yes there is More room for the Buddy buckets but the later model seat is a good fit in there as well if a man where to cut down the stands that the seats were on [from the newer truck] to lower that seat some. Wes at Classic had some seat brackets made to sell that was a bolt in deal for the buckets from that model truck to go in our older type and so they should work on the outside of benches as well. Jim

Re: Are Buddy Buckets more comfortable for tall people?
I'm 6,4 and I weigh 160 and I have buddy buckets with the original foam in my 67, I do have a tilt column as well which I tilt down a notch sometimes 2 and I've never had to switch butt cheeks on a trip or ride, I find them very comfortable. I believe they do sit you a bit lower then a full foam style bench seat.

I say if it's a good deal get them and try me out I doubt you will lose money as much as they are desired
90ish-94 60/40 are close to bolt in I believe the front two line up and is about the slimmest profile I know of |

Re: Are Buddy Buckets more comfortable for tall people?
Thanks for the responses so far. I'm more than likely going to pick them up and cover them in in red houndstooth like in the pic below.

Re: Are Buddy Buckets more comfortable for tall people?
My 68 has the original buddy bucket seats still and I like them.
I'm 6'-1" and 185. Wish I had a tilt wheel! I've heard it said if you remove the gas tank, there's a little more room for the seat to steering wheel for larger people. Mike. |
