Re: i want to sit lower in my 65 c10 with my tank still in the truck

My 65 came with a ford seat in it and it was on 2" blocks to get it tall enough. Have no idea what year it came out of but I think it was early 70's. There is a seat thread that shows lots of seats from other donor vehicles that may be of some help.

The 88 t0 98 seats fit and sit a little lower also.

The 3rd seat in Suburbans, Escalades, maybe Yukons & Tahoes are thinner in the butt & back areas and sit quite low in design as well. Seen a couple installed in our years on 'net pictures & they look like they offer great room where you are asking for.

Too bad we are not close, as I bo't a set when gathering potential parts for my '66 as I was planning for the build--ended up not using them. Two good things about them: lotsa people NEVER use this 3rd seat, so they often are just like new, and they have built-in shoulder belts. Many even remove & store them to make room for hauling. They come in leather and cloth.

Only con I've noticed is they are potentially on the narrow side. Nonetheless, mine are quite comfy just dry-sitting them on my garage floor. I'm still tempted, at times, to make mounts for them & at least try them. I am only 5'7", but have heavy legs & would like more legroom 'tween seat-top and steering wheel-bottom, even with the tilt st. wheel--I love to drive at times with wheel tilted way low, even in wife's mini-van, Z-28, & ext. cab Sonoma. **Tilt with telescoping would be even greater!

HTH,
Sam

Here's some pics that may give you an idea as to size. Other one is essentially the mirror image. When making brackets, front could be brought down even a couple more inches.

Take the bench out and look at the mounting brackets. If I recall correctly it should be easy to simply cut them down.

Though the 3rd row seats are also an excellent idea. Added safety of a 3 point harness. I used the front seats out of a 2003 Tahoe in my truck. Leg room got smaller, but the seat height is adjustable, and does go lower than the factory seat, but probably only about an inch lower.
