Just Getting Started

I'm just now getting around to making my first post and adding some pics. I picked this 72 longbed up at the beginning of 13' and now I'm ready to do some work.

I've owned a few other C-10 mostly of the 81-87 variety.

My brother who will remain nameless at the moment since he's gotten banned and zombied he was back in a few times, is a big C10 guy and now we both have 71lwb.

I'm dropping in new GM Performance 350. I know it's not the beefiest option out there, but it was the right price.

Wish me luck as this post turns into a build post.

New parts are always fun...good looking truck. Does it have spacers on it for the rims?

Nice looking truck. I'm not a big fan of the modern style wheels on these trucks, but then I'm an old guy.

Might be. There is a dark spot in that area of the tenth pic. Who made those lights. I have only seen the funky line of LEDs style that go about 120*.

Pretty sure it's a 1" spacer.

The truck came from Tennessee and is now registered in Virginia as an antique and doesn't require a state inspection.

I'll take more pics next weekend. I got hung up trying to remove the Damn wiper arms. I ended up scratching the hell out of my cowl and denting it slightly to get the one off. Now I'm just going to use a dreme to put a slice in the base of the other one and pop it off.

The wheels and tires... I put those on and thought it was cool but now I'm moving to centerlines and a slight lowering.

Your last pic definatly says Kentucky

I have one of those cool black plates on one of my rides also.

Yeah. I took the Kentucky plates with me when I drove it back from Tennessee, they came off my lemans.

They make a tool with a hook that grabs under the wiper and pulls from the top.

That is very nice clean truck inside and out, should get a lot of years enjoyment out of it without a lot of work to do, good for you, nice buy.

I've bought 3 of those hooks and broke them all. I did manage to get one of the wipers off.

Not to hijack, but mine show a little too much when up close. I used s/s button heads and locknuts to attach the 71/72 parking/turns in their original mounts to the inside of grille

But when you step back it looks okay......

A bit of an update, I did a mini tear down, clean up and install of the GM Performance 350.

Now it seems the trans is on it's way out and I'll be swapping in a new TH350 soon. I've attached a couple pics for the update.

I'm also looking to sell/trade these wheels and tires and go back down to 15".
