Egnar

To me she looks like an Egnar, I'll have to admit I do not know what an Egnar looks like, but if I did it would look like this sweet 66.

I finally was able to get her home, and started to clean things up. In the cab was nasty, took the seat and carpet out and pressure washed the inside. I also hit the engine compartment.

Plans are to change the oil, then new plugs, rebuild the carb, and start her up and see if there is anything left in her 283 or 327 I don't know which.

There is surprisingly little rust. There is a little in both front lower fenders every thing else looks good.

Re: Egnar

I started a big remodel on my 71 and have nothing to drive now. So when I found the 66 I had hoped that I'd be back driving.a c10 of some sort.

If the motor runs I,m going to restore the cab inside, new paint get all the dash working and cover the seat in sea foam green and whites. Clean up the dents on the body and clear it. Do a 4-6 drop and tires and wheels. And drive it

If the motor which has less that 100 k on it doesn't work I've got a sb 400 and a Saginaw 4 speed that's going In. But I would rather just drive it

Re: Egnar

Been out working on the truck in between ran storms. I have a nice 40 x 30 shop, you think I would have room in it for one more project but I don't.

Put a battery in the truck and it crank over for the first time, power washed more of the junk out of the cab now ordering some part for the dash. Good day!

Re: Egnar

Today I was working on the motor, changed the oil, new plugs, and I'm rebuilding the carb. I noticed that the motor is painted a blue not orange so I looked at the cereal number and it's odd, it starts with CE. WHAT HAVE I GOT? Maybe a target motor

Re: Egnar

Suffix code CE shows 1957 265v8 162hp manual trans and passenger car application.

Might look for the date code and GM part # too.

Re: Egnar

Thats a nice, solid truck. Looks like it could be the fleetside brother to my 66 stepper Elbert. Elbert and Egnar sound like they are definitely brothers.

Egnar always wanted a family

Found out to day the last owner died about 4 years ago. He had taken the truck in to the shop were I got it to get it running again and never came back.

Orphan at a young age.

Re: Egnar

After inspecting the trucks needs, this what I found

Steering wheel is missing most the horn parts
Drivers door missing glass and door handle
Steering. Box is bad
Wiper motor bad
No battery box
Driver side exhaust manifold has the threads stripped for bolt that holds the alternator

After cleaning out the truck I found everyone of these part the last owner had already found and were just waiting be put on the truck

Re: Egnar

I was able to work on the truck today. The truck is sitting out side because there is no room in the garage. With my two mustangs and my 71 swb the 66 has to sit out side.

I installed the new exhaust manifold and the alternator, and now it's rock solid.

Made an other discovery, the truck has a brand new radiator. I can not believe my luck, paid $500 for the truck and I got waY more than that in parts.

New radiator
Steering wheel & horn ring parts
Drivers side exhaust manifold
Gasket for exhaust
Steering box
Widow wiper. Motor
New drivers side out side door Handel
A extra front bumper
Drivers side door glass
New battery box
,
I have been rebuilding the carb, and just above ready to start the truck

Re: Egnar

The "CE" is a crate engine prefix. Judging by that and the green color, I'd guess a crate 327? Get the whole number and see; should be something along the lines of "T0608DE" (T=Tonawanda plant, 06=June, 08=the 8th, DE=suffix code).

Re: Egnar

Saturday I had about hour to work on the truck. First I put the carb on

Then I cleaned out the gas tank, I got a couple of gallons of nasty brown stuff out and I wanted to see if it would burn so I poured in on the ground and through a match on. Man was I sorry you would of though I was burning an old tire.

I had installed the drivers side exhaust manifold the day before.

Now the alternator is rock solid. I poured a little gas in the carb and the engine fired right up after 10 years and had 50 lbs of oil pressure. I wanted to drive the truck and I would of but I never connected the exhaust yet tomorrow.

If the motor is good then I,ll decide my fix or mod

Re: Egnar

Yeah, burning a few gallons of old gasoline on the ground is kind of nasty...

Did you get the numbers off the block and figure out what it is?

Re: Egnar

I went for a drive in the truck. My thoughts, breaks good, steering bad, (needs steering box) good thing one came with the truck. Alternator does not work along with most of the lights.

My plan is to paint the interior, then put the inside back to stock with new paint, rubber, electrical, and a new custom seat cover.

Burn on the door could possible be the last owner lost his smoke and it fell into a pile of McDonald hamburger wrappers
