Randomly switches to heater
05 Silverado 1500 So sometimes riding down the road with the AC on the middle and far left vents start blowing out hot air and then suddenly it'll go back to AC. How can we fix it?

Re: Randomly switches to heater
Usually, that is caused by a bad temp. actuator. There are 2 of them, one on top on the heater-A/C box behind the radio that controls the right side, one on the bottom of the box near the center of the dash that controls the left (driver's) side. Sometimes, the problem can be the controller. The problem is none of these parts are cheap. The actuators are over $200 at the dealer (NAPA has an aftermarket one for about $150, I have tried them and they seem to work O.K.). Controllers are over $200 new as well.

Re: Randomly switches to heater
Its this one.."one on the bottom of the box near the center of the dash that controls the left (driver's) side." About $30 at Rock auto and 15 minutes to change. No biggie.
