Welcome Babas and wow, what a nice looking project. Looks like you're definitely making progress. Nice
Metal work and your engine looks like you took the time to do it right. Tell us about yourself and especially about the car culture of France.

Oh by the way, Happy New Year!

Welcome.
Looks like a real nice truck.
Is that the way the grille came in France or is that your mod?
Looks good.

It's all looking so great I hate to focus on one thing but the drag link is way too short. You are going to have some serious bump steer.

You're welcome and no need to apologize for your English. Half of us Americans don't speak English all that well!
If you write something we don't understand, we'll ask...so I'm not understanding "I put mastic on it". What are you referring to?

All the guys on this site and this specific sub-forum are very nice and very helpful. If there's anything we can do to help you please let us know.

Guys, it's got to be much harder for Babas than for us because he likely can't go to a local show and see a lot of trucks like we can.

Thank you

The link going from the pitman arm on the steering box to the steering arm on the spindle is too short. There is an arch that the axle that drag link won't be.

This graphic shows an drag link and track bar not a drag link and spring but it gives you an idea what we are talking about. The distance from one end of the link to the other changes as it goes thru it's arc. The axle is held by the spring and is following an arc. It's being held to this arc by the spring just as the track bar does. So if the arcs don't match when you hit a bumper and the axle does up it is going to turn the steering wheel in your hand OR turn the wheels if the steering wheel is held straight, hit's the name "Bump steer".

Brian

And here is where I got that graphic. http://www.quadratec.com/jeep_knowle...article-68.htm

Re: Chevy 57 by Babas (France)

Ha ha, Babas see what I mean about us Americans not always being able to speak English?
Martinsr has a number of typo's (errors) in his explanation of bump steer.

He meant, "when you hit a BUMP (not "bumper") the axle GOES up (not "does") ..... HENCE (not "hits") the name.

I hope I helped and didn't confuse even more. - Dan

Ok, so in our common language here we call that "bondo".

Bondo is actually the name of one manufacturer's filler. There are many manufacturers but for whatever reason, Bondo is the name we all commonly use.

I'm not trying to "correct" you, just trying to explain the terms we typically use.

LOLOLOL, man that's pathetic! Thanks for the corrections, my God. And that's all on my own, no spell corrector some goofy thing that put the wrong word, that was all me.

And "Bondo" is a name often not used because of it's poor reputation. "Polyester body filler" is the correct generic name for body filler. I am not correcting you as "Bondo" would certainly be understood. I just thought I would toss out a bit more info. Now, if I used the proper words and spelling, that is another story.

Brian

Re: Chevy 57 by Babas (France)

Yeah, you're right. I should have mentioned that Bondo brand is generally not considered a good quality filler. Oh well, we'll screw this guy up one way or the other! Lol.

Here is the back of the cluster from the FAM and headlight switch. Most aftermarket wiring companies use the same color wire as GM did, at least my EZ wire did with a few exceptions.

Babas, welcome to the forum, looks like you are doing a nice job on the truck. I see that you are seating your valves the old fashioned way. I still have one of those sticks with suction cups on each end but haven't used it in many years. Keep up the good work and post pictures as you go. We love pictures.
