Suspension help please
My truck currently has a 4.5"/5" but it seems low in the front after looking at other pics in the static drop thread. Front tires are 255/50r17 and the rears are 275/50r17. With a ls2 I have approximately 1" of clearance front the top of the front tire to the inner fender on the outside edge. Here's a few pics so hopefully you guys can tell me if it looks right or is it lower than I planned for

Re: Suspension help please
Looks good.... If anything, I'd say lower the rear more.

Re: Suspension help please
Don't get me wrong I like it this low but the front tires will already rub and when I go to the new tire and wheel combo I'll lose even more clearance. The current tires are roughly 27" in the front and the new ones will be roughly 28.5". I do have some 1" blocks for the rear but haven't installed them yet. Thanks for the compliments.
Does the current drop look to be on par with a 4.5" drop in y'all's opinion?

Re: Suspension help please
No, not to me it doesn't. Looks more like 5.5".
My truck is 5.5"-6" in front, on 16's. Looks more like that. Check it out in my build, I don't want to plaster a pic of my truck on your thread.

Re: Suspension help please
Thanks for the help
Plaster away. This is a thread to find out if my truck looks right before ordering new springs for the front. Other pics for comparison with drop and tire info would be helpful

Re: Suspension help please
This is 5.5"-6" and my tire is 27" as well. If anything your's looks lower:
I will take the same measurements you did tomorrow so we can compare.

Re: Suspension help please
Sounds good and thank you. Mine does look lower for sure. I'll see if I can find a better side profile shot

Re: Suspension help please
This is about the best side profile shot I have of the current set up. It has mcgauphys 2.5" spindles and springs up front

Re: Suspension help please
I'm out of town for a few weeks and can't get measurements but a low profile jack barely fits under the engine crossmember

Re: Suspension help please
I'd put my money on the 2.5" spindle, and 3" springs.

Re: Suspension help please
According to the part number the springs are 2". We've checked, double checked and triple checked lol. The part number is mcgauphys 6082-2

Re: Suspension help please
Springs are funny things. 2" in one truck can be 3 or more in another truck. All comes down to spring rate and the front weight. With the LS and the auto, AC power steering and power brakes we all ad to these trucks a spring with a drop based on factory weight will have more drop than advertised.

Re: Suspension help please
I agree Jimmy. My truck has a 307 with no AC and a manual tranny.
Here's a pic of my driver side: And the passenger side: Hope this helps.

Re: Suspension help please
I think the spring rates vary from place to place also.

Re: Suspension help please
Also fwiw, my setup is not a good way to judge, considering I cut stock springs, so the only way to judge is by what is the common rule from what I've seen, 1 coil = 2". It would be much better to judge with aftermarket lowering springs, but like PGSigns said, SO many other factors are in play as well.
Your truck looks low though, and nice. Good luck dude.
