Exhaust on 69 GMC V6
Recently my brother and I have been talking about upgrading his exhaust after we do the Holley 500 cfm carb conversion on his 305e V6. According to 60-66GMCGuy.com, a single 3" pipe is the ticket on these engines. That sounds simple enough by I was talking to my exhaust guy and he pointed out that the stock y-pipe is going to be much smaller. This in turn will make it diffcult on him plus it seems contradicary to the larger exhaust. What have others done to the y-pipe?

Re: Exhaust on 69 GMC V6
I just put 2 1/2 dual exhaust on my 305 V6 that has the holley 500 on my 64.

Re: Exhaust on 69 GMC V6
That may be the way we go. I just don't see the point of putting a 3" wide pipe on small y-pipe.

Re: Exhaust on 69 GMC V6
3'' is way overkill for only 305 cubic inches. 2 1/2'' single would be more than plenty

Re: Exhaust on 69 GMC V6
I would agree if it were a sbc, but it isn't. It is a big block V6. It makes around 300 ft lbs so a single isn't unjustified.

Re: Exhaust on 69 GMC V6
It will have a flowtech raptor on it more then likely. It's a good sounding turbo style muffler. I have you on a 4.3 Sierra and it sounds great.
