short bed conversion, who has done it? questions about the bed...

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had done a shortbed conversion that involved cutti g the bed, and if so, how did you deal with the drop in the body line. I have been looking at it, and I cant figure out how it will line up unless I manipulate the metal or use bondo. Thanks.

Welding is a lot like sex, you don't have to be great with the rod as long as you thoroughly prep the surface and your good at grinding

This may not be much help, but when I was looking real hard at buying a lwb, I found several good videos on youtube that detailed the bed cutting steps

Yah, a step would be much easier as I could just cut down the rails, but I have a fleetside and the only video ive seen is 63 I think and its just a video of images. Maybe after I find out a bit more I will do a video for the next guy

If you are talking 67-72 trucks there are tons of shortened fleetsides on this board if you search.

Here is one by member Rokcrin (LFD)

The drop isn't a problem. Here is a thread on it. Start with post #186

They are also showing where to cut the frame but you can disregard that part....
