My driver's side door is sagging a bit and when I close it it isn't quite flush. This isn't too bad considering that I changed a busted hinge and basically guesstimated the hinge position.

Can someone give me a procedure for adjusting the doors? There has to be some kind of aligning sequence that would make it easier than the trial and error wrench throwing that I've been doing.

Did you replace the pins and bushings? mine was sagging and I replaced them and fixed that problem

Basically it is trial and error, like fast71 said check to see if your pins are worn, grab the back edge of the door and pick it up and see if the pins move. It is alot easier to adjust the doors with the front fenders off but it is alot more work to take the fenders off just to adjust your doors.

do you have to take the door off the hinges to replace the pins and bushing??? ...im guessing so .....my driver side door sags quite a bit .....pasenger side is fine ...

yes you do . my hinges were wore out so I got a good used set and repinned them . I had to take the door off a few times to get mine to right since I didnt want to remove my fender. It took me about an hour to do the job . on a scale of 1-10 ,10 being the toughest , I say it was a 7 .

anytime ive had to adjust a door i found it easier to use a floor jack to hold it to the position but the easiest way by far is to remove a fender to get it adjusted

Good suggestion about the pins and bushings, but I'm guessing that even if they're worn a bit you can still compensate with an adjustment.

Can you buy just the pins and bushings?

My fenders are off, so I can get at the front hinge bolts. Can you get at the front hinge bolts with one of those S wrenches?

Yeah, not a GM, but I love it. 1969 GMC 32,000 - fix, drive, relax, fix... 2019 BMW R1250 GSA - Yahoooooooo 1979 Honda GL 1000 - retro touring at its best. Past: '05 Sierra 4x4 - Had 270,000 KM and running well when it was written-off by a stop sign runner. '94 F-150 from the "F word" company. I'll admit it...good truck. Sold what was left of it for $800 to a guy who came to pick it up at 11:00 PM with cash in hand. Hmm. '79 Sierra Grande (Black) organ donor - perfect rebuildable 4-bolt 350 and a good TH350. '76 Sierra Grande (Orange) - hate isn't too strong a word. Kid who bought it turned it into a hot rod. '68 C-10 R.I.P. - Dad's old truck...too far gone to resurrect. '59 C-50 - with hoist. Truck is gone, wife isn't. Nuff said.
