I hope to protect the hard work I put into my truck. The buper I had on there (a step bumper) flexed enough in minor bumps to hit the body, leading to rust. So I cut that part out and eliminated the chance of it happening again.
If anyone is interested, my friend Eddie and I will be happy to design and build more...

Nice and heavy duty looking. Do you see a way that you could mount either a "swing out" or "swing down" tire carrier. Something that could handle up to 36" tires and keep them out of the back bed area.

TIRE RACK
I've thought long and hard about that one. I did design an A-frame eith a stud that slid on a rail mounted to the tailgate and pivoted on the bumper. As you opened the tailgate, the A-frame lowered too, parallel to the tailgate. The problem was that the tire stood up too tall, preventing the hatch from opening. The whole idea was to do it in one easy motion: reach thru the wheel, unlatch the gate, and lower everything. You could even drive with it open. A 2-step deal would work too: Lower the tire, open the hatch, then open the gate. I really hated the old swing-out sideways deal. Another thing would be to bend the bumper down in the middle. I just decided to build some saddlebag gas tanks and put my spare underneath the rear like most modern trucks.

NICE!!!! Can you send me some pix of that fuel cap? I want to do that on the driver's side. Where are your tanks? That's my next move, after finishing the rear and Lifting the back 4". I want to have something to show the guy that will be doing my welding. I'm putting a tank under each of the front seats.

my truck has the square fuel doors on both sides, the rocker boxes are cut out and replaced with fuel tanks, I have the tanks out right now till I find time to hang them. The fuel doors are F250 doors and i custom made the black housing to hold then in...

VERY NICE looking rear bumper/tire carrier. Can you give me any details on how you made it? Does it rattle around or is tight? I had a tire carrier on an S10 blazer (aftermarket) that rattled all the time and drove me nuts! Rick |
